Spiritual and Pagan Funeral Services

The words 'spiritual' and ‘pagan’ encompass many different belief systems and it can be hard to define what is a truly spiritual or pagan funeral. You may wish to hold a quiet, reflective service or hold a full pagan funeral rite. I will work with you to create a service or ceremony that is unique and most fitting to your loved one.

A spirtual or pagan funeral can resemble a traditional service including a eulogy, poetry, readings and prayers to deities, if appropriate to your practice. As part of the funeral service I will call in the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water and/or invoke specific deities that you may wish to honour along with your loved one and weave the service around them. I will ensure that yours and your loved one’s beliefs are honoured in the best way that I can.

Following our initial contact I will arrange to meet with you either in person (if times allow), or via video chat or telephone. This is an easy process that I will support you through.

During our meeting I will ask you to share details and memories of the life of the person who has passed away with me. I will then use those precious details to write a service and eulogy that truly reflects them and the life they lived. We will discuss and choose any poetry, readings or music that you may want to include. Family and friends may also contribute to the service and take part if you wish.

A funeral service can take place anywhere, not just at a cemetery or crematorium. You may wish to hold the service outside at a place that was special to your loved one or in the comfort of your family home. There are also an increasing number of natural burial sites that are available.

Once the service is written, you will have time to make any changes that you feel are appropriate. I will keep in touch with you every step of the way and ensure that your wishes are honoured. I will also work closely with your chosen funeral director to ensure that everything runs smoothly in accordance with your wishes.

On the day of the funeral, I will deliver the service that we have created together. If the venue allows, I will create and hold sacred space prior to the funeral commencing. I will be with you every step of the way to ensure that your loved one's life is honoured and celebrated in a way that is most fitting to them.

Following the funeral, I will provide you with a parchment copy of the service for you to keep.
