Ash Scattering Ceremonies

An Ash Scattering Ceremony is the act of releasing the ashes of a loved one. This can take many forms and the options for content and structure are infinite. Scattering ashes is often thought of as a spiritual act of setting one free. It can provide an opportunity to bid a final farewell and honor the life of a loved one.

Ash Casting Ceremony

Ash Casting is the most common ceremony. I will conduct the ceremony at a location of your choice. This could be a place of significance to the deceased person. This could be a park, landmark or family property. This can be a way to create a place to visit to remember your loved one and visit when you wish to feel close to them. The ceremony may contain anything that is appropriate to honor the life of the person, such as poems, stories, readings or songs. Family members or friends may wish to contribute to say their final farewells.

Ash Floating Ceremony

This beautiful ceremony takes place at a chosen body of water. The ceremony may contain anything that is appropriate to honor the life of the person, such as poems, stories, readings or songs. Family members or friends may wish to contribute to say their final farewells. Ashes are placed into a special water-soluble urn. During the ceremony, the urn is placed onto the water where it will float for a few minutes before sinking below the surface. The urn and ashes naturally become part of the water, providing a beautiful way to honor your loved one, allowing them to continue their journey.

Raking Ceremony

During a Raking Ceremony, your loved one's ashes are returned to the earth. I will conduct the ceremony at the location of your choice. I will work with you to write a tribute and ceremony that honors your loved one in a unique and fitting way. During the ceremony, your loved one's ashes will be scattered onto the ground, along with flower seed, and raked into the earth the help the growth of the new seeds. This ceremony symbolises rebirth and new growth through the life of the new flowers and plants. The location of the ceremony can also provide a place to visit and remember your loved one.

Ash Ringing

I will work with you to create an appropriate ceremony to say goodbye to your loved one. This ceremony would take place in a location of your choice where permission has been sought to plant a tree. As part of the ceremony a tree is planted in honor of your loved one and ashes are scattered around the base on the tree in a specially dug trench. The tree provides a tribute for you to visit in the future honor of your loved one.

I will help you to choose an appropriate location that is accessible and legal. I will work with you to plan and deliver the ceremony, ensuring that the day runs as smoothly as possible. I will make sure that this is a unique and special day for you and your family to say a final goodbye to your loved one.
